The 50N1 is a round-shank, low-shank sewing machine needle, part of the DBx1 / 1738 needle system. This system is one of the most common in single‑needle lockstitch machines worldwide, used for both domestic and industrial sewing

• DBx1 / 1738 needle system — also known as 16×231 — is the standard for many modern and vintage sewing machines
  This system is designed for lockstitch sewing and works with a wide range of fabrics, from lightweight silks to medium‑weight cottons
• The 50N1 needle is a round shank needle with a 50/18 size (0.50 mm diameter, 18/0000 gauge). This is a common industrial needle type, often used in round shank systems such as DBx1, 134, 1738A, 135×16, and 135×17
