The Groz‑Beckert 190 (also labeled MTX190, 150SC, 190R, SY7555) is a standard round‑point needle system used in many industrial sewing machines. It is not a single model but a shank/length system that fits multiple brands and models.

 

Compatible Machines

Based on Groz‑Beckert and PFAFF compatibility lists, the MTX190/190 system works with a wide range of industrial machines, including

 

• PFAFF models: 28, 143, 145, 146, 190, 195, 335, 343, 344, 390, 543, 544, 545, 546, 555, 593, 594, 595, 596, 1240, 1245, 1246, 1545, 3006, 3125, 3135, 4145
• Other industrial brands: Singer, Janome, Juki, Pfaff, and some vintage or retrofitted machines that use round‑shank needles.

 

Needle Size Guide

Within the 190 system, needle size is indicated by the number (e.g., 140, 150, 190, 21/130, 22/140)

• Lower numbers = thinner needles for lighter fabrics (e.g., 140 for medium‑light fabrics)
• Higher numbers = thicker needles for heavier fabrics (e.g., 22/140 for heavy to extra‑heavy fabrics)

Example sizes in the 190 system:

• 140 (Singer Size 14, Metric 90) – medium weight
• 150 (Singer Size 15, Metric 100) – medium‑heavy
• 190 (Singer Size 19, Metric 120) – heavy
• 21/130 (Singer Size 21, Metric 130) – heavy to extra heavy
• 22/140 (Singer Size 22, Metric 140) – extra heavy

How to Match Needle to Machine

1. Identify your machine’s needle system – check the needle packet or manual.
2. Match the system (190/MTX190/150SC) to the machine.
3. Choose needle size based on fabric weight and stitching type.
