The GM Pfaff Syst 34R needle system is a German-made needle bar system used on certain Pfaff sewing machines, particularly in the Models 34 to 70 range . It is designed for heavy-duty sewing and is equivalent to the 287, 16X1, 16×73, 690, and TFX1 needle types

Which Machines Use Syst 34R

• Pfaff Models 34–70 in the “Needles for Pfaff Sewing Machines – Models 8 through 143-U 12” list are specified to use the Syst 34R needle system
• This includes many heavy-duty and semi-industrial Pfaff models from the mid‑20th century, such as the Pfaff 3334 Automatic Lockstitch Bar Tacking Machine, which is designed for industrial sewing tasks like basting, staying, and attaching labels or straps
• The Syst 34R is also used on some Pfaff leather and upholstery models (e.g., Model 21, 23, 24) when configured for heavy-duty work
